Changes to myconnect terms and conditions

From 18 October 2014, the City will no longer repurchase myconnect cards from passengers due to the launch of single-trip tickets. From 8 September until 17 October 2014, unwanted myconnect cards can be returned to MyCiTi station kiosks for a refund of the original purchase price.

City condemns the anarchy and attacks on public transport services

 The City of Cape Town condemns in the strongest possible terms the orchestrated attacks on public transport services across the metro south-east this morning, 1 September 2014. As a result, Transport for Cape Town had to suspend the MyCiTi N2 Express service to Khayelitsha until further notice.

City enforces MyCiTi operating standards

Since 1 January 2014, the City has issued 200 penalties to the value of R198 000 against Vehicle Operating Companies (VOCs) for infringements relating to the operating standards of the MyCiTi service.

MyCiTi launches Table Mountain service

On 12 July 2014, a new MyCiTi service started from Kloof Nek Road along Tafelberg Road to the lower Table Mountain Aerial Cableway station.

Card promotion extended

The myconnect card promotions in Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain have been extended until the end of August so that more residents can benefit from new MyCiTi services in these areas.

Additional buses have been deployed on MyCiTi services to Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain, despite the resumption of Metrorail's central line train service. 

Hout Bay construction to affect road users

In July, construction will begin on a new staging area for MyCiTi buses in The Promenade, off Main Road, in Hout Bay. There will be road closures and other important changes during this time.

MyCiTi fares increase, 1 July 2014

In the next few months, Transport for Cape Town (TCT) will deploy a total of 106 brand new buses on MyCiTi routes across the city, with the first nine new buses to be operational on the busiest trunk routes from Monday, 9 June 2014.
