Covid-19: Western Cape Government advises the public to wear masks

The provincial Department of Health is advising everyone to wear masks especially if they move around in public. Masks are not the only solution in the fight against Covid-19 and must accompany other good hygiene practices.

City advises on COVID-19 precautionary measures for public transport

The City of Cape Town’s Transport Directorate advises commuters making use of public transport services to practice meticulous personal hygiene while travelling. The City also recommends that commuters consider travelling outside of the peak-hour periods as far as possible to limit contact with other commuters and to avoid crowded vehicles.

Residents are advised to take the following preventative measures: wash hands often; do not to touch your face after you have touched or have been in contact with surfaces in public spaces; avoid physical contact with other people; stay at home when you are sick; and sneeze and cough in a tissue.

The journey planner and timetables are very popular as it allows commuters to plan their journeys with real time information at hand.

The City of Cape Town is encouraging holiday makers to take advantage of the longer bus operating hours and additional routes which have been put in place specifically for the holiday period.
