MyCiTi bus service records over 31 million passenger journeys since 2010

In the past five years since the City of Cape Town launched the first of the MyCiTi bus routes in the inner-city in May 2010, the service has recorded approximately 31,1 million passenger journeys.

Free MyCiTi service on Tafelberg Road

With effect from 15 August 2015, MyCiTi’s 110 Table Mountain service will be free of charge. The service operates between the Lower Tafelberg stop at the parking area at Kloof Nek and the Upper Tafelberg stop at the Lower Cableway Station.

MyCiTi extends Atlantis routes and operating times

The City of Cape Town has, after a number of extensive meetings with residents from Atlantis, Mamre and Pella, made some immediate changes to the MyCiTi timetables to better serve the commuters from these areas. More adjustments to the feeder routes and additions to the night and the trunk services will be implemented over a period of eight weeks.

New route between Dunoon and Century City

The new T04 main route will launch on 1 August 2015, providing a direct link between Dunoon and Century via Omuramba station along with six new stations, bringing safe, reliable and affordable public transport to more Capetonians.

City seeks partner to provide Wi-Fi on MyCiTi buses

The City of Cape Town is once again taking innovative steps in a bid to become the first digital city in Africa. We are pleased to announce that we have engaged in a project to expand the availability of internet access to the public through the provision of Wi-Fi on all MyCiTi buses in the near future.

Fare increase and new myconnect products, 1 July 2015

Annual fare increases take effect on 1 July 2015 as part of the City of Cape Town’s annual budget. However, the peak periods in both the morning and evening have been shortened by 45 minutes each, which will mean many commuters will benefit from travelling outside the peak period and will pay the lower off-peak (saver) fares. A new R530 monthly package and a R30 Mover package will be introduced.
