MyCiTi Phase 2A Road Closures - Public Participation May-June 2021
Proposed permanent full and partial road closures
Notice is hereby given in terms of section 4 of the City of Cape Town Immovable Property By-law 2015, that the City of Cape Town’s Transport Directorate intends the permanent full or partial closure of certain roads to vehicular traffic.
Residents are reminded that the City previously approved the concept design of trunk routes and station locations for Phase 2A, which will provide safe, quality, rapid and direct MyCiTi services linking Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain with Wynberg and Claremont.
As part of the detailed design phase now underway, some roads are identified to be either fully or partially closed to vehicular traffic to provide for stations, intersection improvements, upgrades to walking and cycling facilities, and dedicated public transport lanes where possible.
In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, the public and interested and affected parties may submit comments, recommendations or input to the municipality by 25 June 2021. Owners of properties abutting the affected street or portion thereof, may submit their objections with a detailed motivation.
