Construction is underway in the Philippi area along Govan Mbeki Road, from the level railway crossing (approximately 200m from Klipfontein Road) to the R300 bridge, for the next phase of the City of Cape Town’s MyCiTi bus service. 

Roadworks will be ongoing from 07:00 - 17:00 on weekdays and from 07:00 – 14:00 on Saturdays. However, work may also be required beyond these times under exceptional circumstances. This will be communicated in advance. One traffic lane in each direction may be closed to traffic at any given time during construction. 

Road users are urged to avoid the construction area and to allow for longer journeys. The City realises the inconvenience involved and appreciates the patience of everyone affected. 

There will be some opportunities for local labour and subcontractors who are registered at the affected subcouncils. Jobseekers are advised to please bring a copy of their identity document and proof of address to register or update their details on the database at one of the information days below.
