Construction Work Package E3

The City of Cape Town will soon start construction in the Philippi area along Govan Mbeki Road, from the railway crossing to the R300 bridge.

This project forms part of the MyCiTi Phase 2A infrastructure implementation and involves road reconstruction and intersection upgrades.

Construction is planned for two and a half years.

During this period, one traffic lane in each direction may be closed to traffic at any given time.

Roadworks will be limited to weekdays, but work might also be required on weekends under exceptional circumstances. Road users are urged to avoid the construction area and to allow for longer journeys.

The City realises the inconvenience involved and appreciates the patience of everyone affected.

There will be some opportunities for local labour and subcontractors who are registered at the affected subcouncils. Jobseekers are advised to check and confirm their details on the City’s Jobseeker Database at their local subcouncil.
