DRAFT FARES POLICY PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
The public are invited to comment on the City of Cape Town’s Draft Fares Policy. The policy sets out how the City structures and implements its fare structure for road-based public transport – like the MyCiTi service. The Draft Fares Policy aims to adjust the policy in order to; simplify the fares system for passengers, improve access and improve integration between public transport modes and services.

Work will commence in March to convert 77 temporary MyCiTi bus stops into permanent structures across the footprint.

Five new stops are proposed as part of the re-alignment of routes 214a and 214c in Table View. The re-alignment will provide a more direct service and ensure less travel time for passengers by operating in both directions along Dartford Drive and Walworth Road.

Construction work to rebuild the Usasaza and Dunoon MyCiTi stations is planned to commence on 10 September 2024 and continue until November 2025. Both sites will be cordoned off and the dedicated MyCiTi lanes joining the two stations will be closed during this time. Passengers travelling on routes T01, T04, D05 and D08 are advised of possible delays during this time. Affected passengers are advised to factor in additional travel time, especially during the peak morning and afternoon periods.

This follows a public participation process confirming support for the proposed name change from “Phoenix” to “Freedom”, and Council approval on 12 June 2024. The Sesame, Highlands and Marguerite stops in Mitchells Plain will be affected by construction of MyCiTi infrastructure from 8 June 2024 for a period of 9 months. Passengers are advised to use temporary stops to access routes D03/D04 and to factor in extra travel time.
