Work is set to start in Claremont with the extensive upgrade of Imam Haron, Chichester and Stanhope Roads in preparation for future public transport infrastructure.

The first phase of roadworks will start on Monday 24 March 2025 and continue for approximately five months. During this time, several temporary lane closures will be in effect between the M5 and Belvedere Road. Motorists will be able to use the remaining lanes to travel but are advised of expected delays.

24 March – 30 August 2025

Travelling from M5 towards Claremont

  • One right-turn lane closure at the intersection of the M5 and the Racecourse Road Bridge. One right turn lane will remain open.
  • One right-turn lane closure at the intersection of Racecourse, Chichester and Doncaster Road. One right turn lane will remain open.
  • One lane closure at Chichester Road between Doncaster and Garfield Road. Two lanes will remain open.
  • One right-turn lane closure at the intersection of Chichester and Garfield Road. One right-turn lane will remain open.
  • Dedicated right-turn lane closure at the intersection of Chichester and Belvedere Road. Right turns will still be possible via the remaining lane.

Travelling from Claremont towards the M5

  • Dedicated right-turn lane closure at the intersection of Chichester and Garfield Roads. Right turns will still be possible via the remaining lane.
  • Dedicated right-turn lane closure at the intersection of Chichester and Doncaster Road. Right turns will still be possible via the remaining lane.
  • Single lane closure between Doncaster Road and the M5. Two lanes will remain open.
  • Right turn closure at intersection of Chichester and Loch Roads. Access available via Garfield Road.
