On 1 July each year, the MyCiTi fares change as part of the City of Cape Town’s annual budget. Here is a comprehensive list of MyCiTi’s tariffs as of 1 July 2019.

Get a myconnect card

Before you can use the MyCiTi service, you need a myconnect card loaded with money. The myconnect card is a bank card which expires, so remember to check the expiry date. They are available from any station kiosk and participating retailers. Keep your myconnect slip in a safe place.

Single-trip cards

If you are looking to use a MyCiTi bus for a once-off journey, a single-trip card is ideal. They are available at any MyCiTi station kiosk and are only valid for a single trip anywhere on the MyCiTi system within two years of purchase. However, to get the real benefit of the MyCiTi service, opt for a myconnect card.

Load mover or standard and Pay as you go

MyCiTi uses a distance-based fare system where you pay for the distance you travel. You can either load any amount of money on your myconnect card and pay Standard fares or load Mover points and save at all times.

Monthly Pass

Choose a Monthly Pass for unlimited travel to anywhere, including the Airport, for one whole month. Load a Monthly Pass on a myconnect card at any MyCiTi station kiosk, choose your start date and get going. This is ideal for commuting to and from work and regular travel over long distances.

Things to do in Cape Town

Among the popular attractions served by MyCiTi are the Table Mountain Cableway, the Two Oceans Aquarium, the historic city centre, Robben Island Gateway, and the shopping and leisure destinations of the V&A Waterfront and Century City. Visitors will also have access to glorious beaches along the West Coast and Atlantic Seaboards, from Melkbosstrand in the North to Hout Bay in the south.

The Airport Service

Visitors arriving at Cape Town International Airport can travel into central Cape Town and onward throughout the MyCiTi network. Buses depart from the MyCiTi Airport station right outside the arrivals terminal every 30 minutes from early in the morning until late in the evening. Load any multi-day travel package to connect with the Airport and enjoy many of Cape Town’s top tourism sites and leisure destinations. At R250, the 7 Day Pass represents unbeatable value.
