The City of Cape Town invites residents and road users in Mitchells Plain to a public information day on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, at the Lentegeur Administrative Building. The information day will take place between 15:00 and 19:00, to allow for residents to attend after work. Officials will provide project details and updates on the various road construction projects and ongoing upgrades in the area.

The major road construction projects currently under way in Mitchells Plain include the road rehabilitation work along Jakes Gerwel Drive; the infrastructure construction for MyCiTi bus services on AZ Berman Drive and Stock Road, as well as the resurfacing of various roads as part of ongoing maintenance.

‘The City encourages residents, business owners and stakeholders to please attend this information day at a convenient time between 15:00 and 19:00 on 15 April. Our Urban Mobility project managers and management will be available to engage with residents. This is an opportunity for the community to get first-hand information and updates on these projects.

‘Our team understands the frustrations of these residents and empathises with the levels of congestion currently being experienced. Please attend to find out about the timing of these projects from the implementation team and get an overview of the improvements, which the community can look forward to. Tackling construction work in a comprehensive, large-scale manner as we are doing in Mitchells Plain means we can complete the projects as quickly as possible, rather than stretching out the inconvenience over many years,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Residents will also be able to view large detailed maps and project diagrams and find out about the relevant traffic management plan details.

Information day details:

  • Date: Tuesday, 15 April 2025
  • Time: 15:00 to 19:00

We ask that you please bear with us as we invest in Mitchells Plain in a manner that improves lives and commuter experiences. Once all of these projects are complete, our residents will enjoy better quality roads, and a world class public transport offering to keep Cape Town moving,’ said Councillor Quintas.
