Check your card

If your card expires in December 2015, you can get a new myconnect card free of charge. Please note that although your card expires, your card balance does not expire and will be transferred to your new card immediately. *

Look at the date on the front of your myconnect card, which has an expiry date because it is a banking product. If it says 12/15 then you may be eligible for our special FREE CARD offer – if you replace your card by 31 December 2015.

Cards expiring in December

Take advantage of this limited-period FREE CARD offer. If your card has an expiry date of 12/15:

1. Check your card balance and penalties at a station kiosk or by tapping your card at the nearby information terminals.

2. Clear any outstanding penalties at a station kiosk.

3. Visit one of the card replacement kiosks at Civic Centre (Zone 3), Table View (Marine Circle entrance), Adderley, Altantis, Omuramba, Racecourse and Wood stations. These kiosks will be in operation seven days a week until 31 December 2015.

4. You will need to produce your expired card and ID book, passport or driver’s licence. If the myconnect card was issued to a child without one of these forms of identification, then a birth certificate is required.

5. Complete the Free Card Application Form. Forms are available for download below.

6. Your new myconnect card will be issued free of charge and the Standard or Mover point balance on your old card will be immediately transferred to your new card.*

7. This process takes about 15 minutes. Save time by completing the application form below before visiting the card replacement kiosk.

Important notes

  • If you do not replace your card by 31 December 2015, you will have to purchase a new card for R20 and wait 30 days for money loaded as Standard to be transferred to your new card.
  • If your expiring card was issued free, it will be replaced at no cost. However, if you present an expiring myconnect card which you have purchased and records show that you were previously issued with a free card, then your balance will need to be transferred to that free card, or you can purchase a new myconnect card for R20 and transfer your balance to the new card.
  • Your card expiring on 31 December 2015 will not work on 1 January 2016.
  • Should more than one card in a family be expiring, one person can renew all cards provided there is a complete, signed application form for each expiring card.
