City reopens Grey and Neptune MyCiTi stations
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be reopening the MyCiTi Grey and Neptune stations on Saturday, 14 May 2022, in response to passenger demand. The two stations were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on movement.
‘I am pleased to announce that the Grey and Neptune stations will be re-opened next week, 14 May 2022. The uplifting of the state of disaster, together with the outcome of the investigation into passenger demand by the Public Transport Department, now enables us to open these stations. We are seeing an increasing demand for the MyCiTi bus service and believe that this will continue to grow, especially given the cost of petrol. I am happy that the residents close to the Grey station and the workers situated close to the Neptune station will now have easy access to these MyCiTi stations again without having to walk too far, especially ahead of the winter,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Neptune station is located in Paarden Eiland and Grey Station in Table View. Both stations form part of the T01 trunk route, which operates between the Waterfront, Civic Centre in Cape Town, Table View and Dunoon with over 18 stops along the way, and serves commuters across these areas.
Each day buses operating along the T01 stop approximately every six to seven minutes at these stations during the peak hours of 06:45 to 08:00 and 16:15 and 17:30. During off peak hours the buses stop here approximately every 12 minutes.
‘The first bus stops at these stations shortly after five in the morning and the last buses pass between 22:00 and 23:00 in the evening. These schedules demonstrate the City’s commitment to provide a world class, safe and reliable bus service that operates from the very early hours in the morning till very late at night, catering for the needs of commuters throughout our residential, business and industrial hubs,’ said Councillor Quintas.
