City hosts further engagements

The City of Cape Town’s Transport and Urban Development Authority and Codeta, with the participation of the National Department of Transport, had a fruitful meeting last night, 5 June 2018.

In the meeting it was agreed that the City and Codeta, a minibus-taxi association based in Khayelitsha, will work together over the next 14 working days to address their concerns.

Codeta, together with the Golden Arrow Bus Service and the Route 6 Taxi Association from Mitchells Plain, are shareholders in the N2 Express Joint Venture (JV) Vehicle Operating Company. The N2 Express JV has been operating the four MyCiTi N2 Express routes – the D01, D02, D03, and D04 – between the Metro South-east and the Cape Town city centre since July 2014.

‘The JV and its shareholders are valuable partners in the City’s endeavour to provide a safe, convenient and affordable public transport service to the residents of the Cape Flats. The City remains committed to working with our partners from the minibus-taxi industry. Going forward, I am confident that the outcome of last night’s meeting is a sound foundation for strengthening our working relationship with Codeta, while engaging also with other two shareholders of the JV,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport and Urban Development, Councillor Brett Herron.

In the meantime, the City wants to advise commuters from Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha that the N2 Express service is operating according to schedule.
