MyCiTi construction planned for Adderley Street in August
2013-08-07
MyCiTi construction work will soon begin in Adderley Street, between Strand Street and Hans Strijdom Avenue. As a result, certain road lane closures will be implemented to allow for the construction of a new MyCiTi bus station, exclusive bus lanes, and non-motorised transport facilities.
The City of Cape Town advises that right-turn movements from Riebeek Street into Adderley Street will no longer be possible. This movement will be permanently closed to all traffic. Left-turn movements from Riebeek Street into Adderley Street and from Adderley Street into Riebeek Street will still be permitted. Furthermore, the right-turn lane from Adderley Street into Riebeek Street will also be permanently closed to general traffic but MyCiTi buses will be permitted to turn right here.
Motorists wishing to travel along Adderley Street towards the mountain are encouraged to access Adderley Street at alternative points such as Hans Strijdom Avenue or Strand Street.
The new traffic management measures will be regulated by barriers, road traffic signs and markings.
The City of Cape Town requests that motorists please drive carefully in this area and thanks them for their patience during construction.
