What can I do if I lost something on the bus or at a station?

  • Call the Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63 or email transport.info@capetown.gov.za
  • Provide a detailed description of the missing item. You will be issued a reference number and contacted after an investigation confirming if your item has been recovered or not.
  • Valuable items such as mobile phones and jewellery must be reported to the police in order to obtain a case number. You will need an affidavit declaring that the item is yours.
  • Property not claimed in three months will be donated to a charity.

What can I do if I found an unattended item on a bus or at a station?

  • If you find an unattended item at a station or on the bus that does not belong to you, please take the item to your nearest station. Please note the station or bus number where the item was found.
