Commuters and Mitchells Plain residents are encouraged to have their say on the placement of permanent bus stops along the recently-launched D04 route at a public meeting in Tafelsig on 24 February.

The new MyCiTi route - D04 - from Kapteinsklip, through Tafelsig to Mitchells Plain Town Centre and the city centre has been operating along AZ Berman Drive and Kilimanjaro Street since November 2015 using temporary stops.

Now it’s time for commuters and residents to help decide where permanent bus stops should be built to best service your needs.

The public meeting will take place on Wednesday, 24 February 2016, at the Thusong Service Centre from 15:00 to 19:00.

The first route between Mitchells Plain and the Cape Town city centre - D03 - was launched in July 2014 as an express service to complement existing rail services.

In most suburbs where routes are introduced, such as Table View and Sea Point, the same temporary stops were first used to help Transport for Cape Town (TCT) officials and communities decide where permanent stops should be located.

This can be affected by factors such as commuter safety and convenience. TCT is now holding a public meeting to help decide on the permanent location of MyCiTi stops along route D04 .

There are currently temporary bus stops at Imperial, Spine, Langeberg, Paulsberg and Snowdon in Tafelsig, and transport officials will be at the meeting to discuss suggestions with the community.
