Residents of Mitchells Plain can look forward to an expanded service to and from the centre of Cape Town from 28 November 2015.

Since the launch of the first routes on the N2 Express service in July 2014, more than a million passenger journeys have been recorded on these routes.

The Tafelsig and Eastridge areas of Mitchells Plain will now benefit from a MyCiTi service, with the start of a service between Kapteinsklip railway station and Civic Centre station.

Tafelsig residents can also make use of this service to get to and from the Mitchells Plain Town Centre, the Day Hospital, police station and Tafelsig Primary and Secondary schools.

The new D04 Kapteinsklip – Civic Centre route will operate along the same route as the current D03 Mitchells Plain East – Civic Centre route, with an extension along AZ Berman Drive to Kapteinsklip railway station and new bus stops at Imperial, Spine, Langeberg, Paulsberg and Snowdon in Eastridge and Tafelsig.

The first bus will leave Kapteinsklip railway station at 05:30 and the last bus will leave the Civic Centre at 21:35.

From 28 November MyCiTi’s D03 Mitchells Plain East – Civic Centre will only operate in peak hours on weekday mornings and afternoons, which will mean more buses to and from Cape Town during these busy times.“We are extremely proud and excited about the roll-out of the expanded MyCiTi service in Mitchells Plain,” says Mayoral Committee Member: Transport for Cape Town, Councillor Brett Herron. “This is part of the City of Cape Town’s endeavour to provide the communities of the Cape Flats with safe, affordable and decent public transport.”
