Enjoy the certainty of moving around the city with MyCiTi, Cape Town’s reliable, scheduled bus service that allows you to plan your journey there and back.

A quality public transport system is one that takes the guesswork out of your day. That’s why MyCiTi is proud to offer a scheduled service to make getting around as convenient as possible.

MyCiTi is a dynamic service which responds to passenger demand so that it can operate as efficiently as possible. This means that frequencies change from time to time, depending on how many people are using the buses.

For residents of Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain, being near a MyCiTi route means being able to plan ahead and cut down on time spent waiting, since timetables are displayed at the stops. Smart passengers plan ahead by knowing when the bus is expected and getting to the stop with a few minutes to spare.

Khayelitsha

From 3 September 2016, to meet growing demand, four more buses will be added to the D01 and D02 routes, from Kuyasa to the Civic Centre along Lindela and Spine roads to the east and Ntlazane Road and Mew Way to the west. On weekdays, the first trip from Kuyasa to Civic Centre station on D01 will depart at 04:55 and D02 at 04:50. In the morning peak, there will be buses every 10 minutes, and in the afternoons the frequency will change from every 14 minutes to every 11 minutes on D01 and from every 13 minutes to every 11 minutes on D02 . The last bus from Civic Centre to Khayelitsha is around 22:00.

There is less demand for MyCiTi services outside the peak hours and the service has been adjusted during these times. On both routes, there will be buses once an hour, instead of every 45 minutes. Should the demand increase more frequent buses will be added in the off-peak hours.

During the weekends, there will be buses from Khayelitsha to the central city every 40 minutes until 08:00, and one every 60 minutes thereafter. For passengers boarding at Kuyasa this means there is a bus leaving for the central city every 30 minutes on either the D01 or D02 routes.

Mitchells Plain

There will be a bus every 60 minutes on route D04 between 09:00 and 16:30 and between 19:00 and 21:00 on weekdays. On weekends buses will operate every 40 minutes until 08:00 and thereafter every 60 minutes. There will also be minor changes to route D03 Mitchells Plain East – Civic Centre.Should the demand increase more frequent buses will be added to these routes.

MyCiTi also responds to passenger demand in other ways. After public input, six new stops have been added to the D04 Kapteinsklip – Civic Centre route. These stops, along AZ Berman Drive between Kapteinsklip and Town Centre, are Figaro, Bontebok, Tafelsig Primary, Ruwenzori, Dolomites East and Dolomites West.

The existing Spine stop has also been moved to a better location nearby. These are just some of the ways residents are helping to shape the MyCiTi service so that it best suits their needs.
