20 April 2015 - September 2015

A major road rehabilitation and upgrade project will commence along a portion of Camps Bay Drive on Monday 20 April 2015. These roadworks will disrupt traffic and necessitate changes to the MyCiTi bus services.

The project will include:
• The rehabilitation of Camps Bay Drive between Geneva Drive and Rontree Avenue. This section will be widened by 1,4 m on the mountain side of the road and some of the sharp corners will be adjusted to improve safety along this route which is often frequented by tourist groups.
• The rehabilitation and, where necessary, the repair of sidewalks along Camps Bay Drive between Rontree Avenue and Houghton Drive.
• Repairs will also be undertaken to a section of the culvert in Bakoven that was damaged by flooding and temporarily repaired in November 2013. This section of Camps Bay Drive was originally built to accommodate trams and it has not been rehabilitated for around 30 years. The average daily traffic is about 14 000 vehicles in both directions.

The planned end date for the construction is September 2015, depending on the weather.
