Road users in Hout Bay are advised of road-closures planned for later this week, to accommodate the last stages in the construction of a MyCiTi staging area close to the Promenade.

The road-closures and alternative routes will be clearly sign-posted, and flagmen will be on duty to direct the flow of traffic. Please keep these road-closures in mind when travelling through the affected areas this week.

Promenade Road will be closed between Main Road and Melkhout Crescent West during the daytime from Wednesday 25 March 2015 till Friday 27 March 2015, to allow for the placement of the final layers of asphalt. These road closures are planned for 7am till 5pm on each day and will happen in two stages: from Melkhout Crescent West to Melkhout Crescent East on Wednesday 25 March, and from Melkhout Crescent West to Main Road on Thursday 26 and Friday and 27 March. These dates and times are dependent on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.

Below are two maps showing alternative traffic flow accommodation for the area over the two days of construction. Beach Crescent will be turned into a two-way traffic road for the duration of the works. Access to the parking area of The Village will be maintained, however there will be a small window when the area directly in front of the driveway will have to be resurfaced. At this time there will be a need to temporarily close the entrance, but this will be for no longer than an hour. This will happen either on Thursday or Friday.

The construction of a MyCiTi staging area in Hout Bay will improve the efficiency of the MyCiTi service. Transport for Cape Town (TCT) apologises for any inconvenience caused, and thanks the public for their patience during the construction period. The affected roads will be reopened as soon as it is possible, to limit the impact on traffic flow.
