School holidays might have come to an end, but there is still a lot of fun, outdoor things to do on sunny winter days. Plan an outdoor adventure and let MyCiTi take you there and back.

Enjoy stunning views of Robben Island and Table Mountain while you explore the Rietvlei and Blaauwberg nature reserves – just two of several fun destinations on MyCiTi routes. The areas feature picnic sites, braai spots, historic buildings, surfing, windsurfing, birdwatching, whale-watching (Blaauwberg only) and fishing (permit required).

Hike along a new 4,4km hiking trail at Blaauwberg Nature Reserve to keep warm. The trail starts and ends at the Eerste Steen Resort and meanders through threatened Cape Flats dune strandveld vegetation.

The hiking trail follows the historical routes used in the area dating back to the early 1900s. Look out for the reserves points of interest along the trail - an old milkwood tree, a well point and a kraal. You’ll see archaeological remains along the coastline and to the east of Blaauwberg Hill, testament to the indigenous Khoi communities who once lived there. Hikers will also be able to enjoy stunning views of two World Heritage Sites – Robben Island and Table Mountain.

Dress warmly, pack what you need and hop aboard a MyCiTi bus. Find your closest MyCiTi stop and let the system’s network of routes connect you to your next fun destination.
